Automotive Connector

Automotive connectors, also known as sheaths, connectors, and molded housings, are an integral part of automotive electronic systems. It realizes the transmission of current and signals by connecting different electronic devices, electrical appliances or wiring harnesses together, thus ensuring the normal operation of various systems in the car.

Automotive connectors are mainly composed of the following four basic structural components:

1. Contact Parts:
– Contacts are the core parts of automotive connectors to complete the electrical connection function.
– It is usually composed of positive contact parts (such as round pins, square pins or inserts) and negative contact parts (jacks) composed of contact pair.
– Positive contacts are generally rigid parts, made of brass, phosphor bronze and other materials; negative contacts rely on the elastic structure of the elastic deformation that occurs when inserted with the pins, resulting in elastic force to form a close contact.

2. Shell:
– The shell, also known as the shell, is the outer shell of the automotive connector.
– It provides mechanical protection for the insulated mounting plate and pins inside, as well as alignment of the plug and socket when mating, thus securing the connector to the device.

3. Insulator:
– The insulator is also often referred to as the base or mounting plate of the automotive connector.
– Its main role is to make the contacts in the desired position and spacing, and to ensure that the insulation between the contacts and between the contacts and the shell.
– Good insulation resistance, voltage resistance and ease of processing is the basic requirements for the selection of insulation materials.

4. Accessories:
– Accessories are divided into structural accessories and installation accessories.
– Structural accessories such as rings, positioning keys, positioning pins, etc., used to support and fix the connector; mounting accessories such as screws, nuts, etc., is used for connector mounting and dismounting.
